BW worked diligently on the study of crystals (and minerals, too). He created several three dimensional models of crystal shapes. After understanding the shapes, he tried to make sugar and borax crystals. He is willing to take any ideas about his sugar crystal failure. However, he did make some lovely borax snowflakes for his Christmas tree this year.
He also presented a representation of his scratch test. He tried it on a real tile and made a very real to life “tile” for his presentation.
BW also showed us how to conduct a Moh’s Test with actual materials beginning with talc and moving upwards to the hardness of diamonds.
All in all, excellent work for a first project for a first year.
