JV and AV’s afternoon

We’ve acquired deer hide.  It became apparent at noon today that its hair was slipping and it was ready to begin to work.

We needed to do quite a bit of prep quickly.

AV and JV began making the beam that would hold the hide while it is fleshed.

While JV prepared himself and the hide, AV began digging a fire pit.

JV suited up and began scraping.

AV finished his digging and lined the pit.

The pit is designed to bake potatoes and smoke hides.  AV met those requirements.

Right now the hide is back in water soaking to help the neck hair to become easier to work.
